Finding the Best Smoker

It is getting warmer out and becoming closer to summer time. Warmth in the air causes many people to think about outdoor cooking, grilling, barbequeing, and, my favorite, smoking.

If you want to get started in the art of smoking, I recommend you spend some time reading up on it and figuring out what features you would want in your first best smoker. I recommend something easy to use, but also versatile, like the Old Smokey. This is an old school smoker which has modern devices on it, like a thermostat.

Look at many smokers to decide which is the best for you. Smoker can be electric powered, gas powered, wooden, or charcoal. This will depend on your outdoor setup and also on how much room you have as well as where you live. This will also alter the taste of the finished product. Smoked woodchips give a very different taste than charcoal.

They also come in a wide variety of sizes. This will determine how much meat you can smoke at one time. If you are new at this, I suggest you get something small. However, if you are a pro, and you have a large family, or host a lot of parties, than get a large one. If you are a pro, but only ever use the smoker for yourself, then you have no need for a big expensive one.

Smokers can cost anywhere from two hundred dollars to upward of two thousand. Again, if you are unsure if you will like to do this, or use it often, go with something cheap and know that you can upgrade eventually if you want to. For now you will have something small but reliable and if you decide you won’t use it, or do not like it, then you can be happy knowing you spent the bare minimum and didn’t waste much money.
